Samurai Hori Hori Knife

I was very impressed with this tool. It is a fantastic addition to my garden equipment. It is well crafted and refined in strong Japanese steel, making it great for light and heavy tasks.The knife comes in a leather sheath which keeps its edge from getting damaged whilst maximising safety. It has two different edges, one a finely honed edge and the other serrated, which really helps when using it to either edge or weed a lawn. It cuts through hard dry ground and grass runners seamlessly. I used it in the middle of this summer’s heatwave to remove dandelions from my lawn and it was just so quick and easy, with little visible damage or a hole left behind.As well as being a great weeding tool, it also doubles as a small trowel. Its narrowness really makes it easy to use to pot or repot plants.Lastly, the handle has a very comfortable grip to it and it is also lightweight and balanced. I would highly recommend this product.

Great quality, this tool cuts through anything with ease. Honestly, just a heads up, it's so sharp, you wouldn't want to leave this lying around if you have children.The case & this tool are both well made & with care. I can tell it's built to last. I recommend purchasing one of these for sure. X

One of the nicest surprises with this trowel was actually the handle. I expected the blade to be the star of the show, but while the blade is certainly sharp and sturdy, it was the handle that really impressed me. It has a lovely weight to it, feels very well balanced in the hand, and offers plenty of grip. It doesn't feel obviously rubber-coated, but it has just enough give to make it very comfortable during use, and to me it feels premium.The stainless steel blade is still a good one. It's sharp enough to make light work of cutting through roots, which is a handy advantage over a standard garden trowel, and I also like the depth markings for planting. Having the ability to dig, cut, scrape and measure with one tool means I'm swapping over with other tools less often.The only reason this isn't a full five stars from me is that I had built up an image in my head of the blade feeling even more substantial and precision engineered than it does. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, and I expect it will last for years, but it didn't quite give me that "wow" feeling I was expecting. The included leather holster is a nice extra as well and makes it easy to keep the trowel close at hand while working around the garden.At £19.99, I still think it's a very good quality garden tool that's built to last. For me, the outstanding comfort and balance of the handle ended up being the highlight, and it's become a trowel I'm happy to keep reaching for.

I’m genuinely impressed with this Kimura Samurai Series garden trowel. You can tell straight away that the stainless steel blade is well made as it has that solid, precise feel, and it slices through soil, roots and weeds with hardly any effort. As it is a 5 in 1 tool, and I’ve already used it for digging, cutting, scraping and even quick measuring jobs around the garden.The Japanese oak handle is lovely to hold. It’s smooth, comfortable and shaped in a way that gives you great control without straining your hand. The hanging hole is a nice touch too, especially if you like keeping your tools organised on a wall rack.The included faux leather holster is ok, it is not as thick or sturdy as an actual leather one but it does sit securely on a belt, which makes it easy to carry around while working.Overall, this is a handy garden tool that is nicely made, comfortable to use, and practical.

Oh my word, this is the bees knees! We have clay soil and it basically bakes hard. This is such good tool for our soil. Firstly it is made of high quality steel, so no rusting and hopefully it will last years. The handle is comfortable and gives a good grip to safely weald the trowel. It has a very sharp point, which helps you to push into the ground, and best of all it has a serrated edge, so you can saw as you go round the planting hole you are making, enabling you to sever and roots that get in the way. It comes with a sheaf to keep the blade same and if you wish, it has a belt hook so you can parade round the garden fully armed. Seriously though, this is a god send for anyone with less than perfect soil. Prices at £19.99 when purchased, for this quality and versatility, that is very good value for money

Having owned a traditional Japanese Hori knife with an oak handle and a full tang, I was curious to see how this Kimura model would stack up. The first thing to note is that this is a full-sized tool. The blade and handle are standard dimensions, not cut down or thinned out in comparison to premium models. Kimura is a Japanese manufacturer with centuries of history, and the blade genuinely feels like quality Japanese steel, although manufactured in Taiwan. It also features handy depth markings stamped in inches on the face of the blade, making it highly effective as a digging trowel for planting bulbs.It functions as a bit of a garden Swiss Army knife. The curve at the tip is perfectly shaped for sliding along wooden fences to lift away stubborn ivy, while the serrated edge makes light work of hacking through thick weed roots. The handle is synthetic, and while the traditional wooden versions definitely look nicer, the black handled one is ergonomically more practical. It is thinner and more rounded than a square wooden grip, and it is flared at both ends so your hand cannot slide forward onto the blade or slip off the back. Because the handle is moulded directly onto the steel, the connection is rock solid with absolutely no play or flexing when you are digging.Using a magnet, I can tell the tang goes nearly two inches into the handle, which is more than enough for garden use. I am not a massive fan of the inset manufacturer name on the grip, but it does not impact performance. The only real letdown is the leatherette holster. It is a neat copy of a real leather sheath, but the serrated edge is inevitably going to cut through the synthetic material over time. Ultimately, this holster and the shorter tang are the only things separating this from the premium versions; the blade efficiency is identical. It is a beautifully made, highly effective tool that would make an excellent Christmas or birthday gift for any gardener.

The metal is strong and it is a well designed tool to help you get ahead in the garden and seems great value for the quality and strength of the tool.

The dimensions: 20 cm x 6 cm x 2 cm, weighs 340 grams. It has 5-in-1 Functionality: weeding, digging, cutting, scraping, and measuring capabilities so it is a very versatile and useful tool. It seems to function well and is great for getting the weeds out with it being so long and sturdy.The trowel seems to be very good value due to the quality and utility. The stainless steel blade feels strong and the rubber grip on the handle is comfortable to hold, even with damp hands.Where this really earns its keep is doing several jobs in one. I have used it for digging out weeds, planting and loosening the soil, and the serrated edge cuts through roots with no trouble. One handy touch is the depth markings on the blade, so you can see how deep you are planting bulbs without guessing. It comes with a leather holster that feels good quality, and there is a belt loop on it so you can keep the blade safely covered as you move about the garden, which I think is sensible with a tool this sharp. There is a hanging hole in the handle too, so it can go up on a hook in the shed.Overall, a sturdy multi-purpose tool that has replaced 2 or 3 others in my trug, and I would say it is fairly priced for the quality. It has quickly become the tool I reach for first in the garden.

This is a fairly large and substantial Hori Hori garden knife, it’s not a tool I have previously owned and not really anything like I would expect of a garden trowel. At first sight it looks more like a large diving knife or similar but with a curved blade which gives it a trowel functionality, it is most definitely a very useful and robust gardening tool.The whole thing seems very strong, the slightly curved blade is rigid and free of unwanted flexibility. Both edges are sharpened to a level that helps for digging into firm ground and provides useful cutting abilities. The handle is strong and provides a positive and reliable grip yet remains comfortable to hold.A functional holster is included which is a practical storage solution.This is a well made, good quality and versatile gardening tool. It is ideal for general digging, weeding and cutting tasks. Due to the relatively narrow width of the blade it’s not so useful for scooping up soil as a standard garden trowel, but what it lacks in that way it more than makes up for when used to its strengths.
